I've been running fishing trips in Alaska for more than fifteen years.  One of the most valuable lessons I've learned is to keep it fun. I enjoy laughing and making people laugh and I think I'm good at it. I realize this is your trip and will try to make it as enjoyable as legally possible. I try to exceed the expectations you have of your fishing trip. We have about 75% return clientele so, I think we must be doing something right.      

I am one of the lucky few that have found their calling. I always dreamed of Alaska fishing and hunting when I was a kid and now I am living those dreams. 

Captain Jim

Welcome to First City Charters! We are a small family owned Alaska fishing charter business. Captain Jim owner and operator, has owned First City Charters in Ketchikan, Alaska since 1997. He has a United States Coast Guard 100 Ton Near Coastal License and First Aid / CPR. He is also a member of the Alaska Charter Association and Ketchikan Guided Sportfishing Association.

Jim came to Alaska in 1989 he spent 15 years on commercial fishing boats fishing for salmon and halibut. He started charter fishing in Alaska in 1995. He has 15 years charter fishing the local water around Ketchikan. He is an outdoor oriented person. He has been hunting and fishing since he could walk. He came to Alaska looking  for an adventure and found his life.

He met his wife Becky in Ketchikan. Jim, Becky and daughters Taylor and Hannah are year round residents of  Ketchikan, Alaska. They truly love the beauty of the southeast region and enjoy being able share it with visitors to the area. We are fully equipped and capable to offer you an exceptional Alaska fishing experience. We realize that this will be the trip of a lifetime for many of our guests and we will do our best to make it an enjoyable, memorable and successful one for each of our guests!
