The Moody Family

Captain Jim Moody is the owner and operator, and has owned First City Charters in Ketchikan, Alaska since 1997. He has a United States Coast Guard 100 Ton Near Coastal License and is First Aid/CPR certified. Jim’s a goodstanding member of the Alaska Charter Association, and Ketchikan Guided Sportfishing Association.

Jim came to Alaska in 1989 he spent 15 years on commercial fishing boats fishing for salmon and halibut. He started charter fishing in Alaska in 1995, and has spent every following year charter fishing the local waters around Ketchikan. He’s an outdoor oriented person, and has been hunting and fishing since he could walk. He came to Alaska looking for an adventure and found his calling in life in Ketchikan.

“I’ve been running fishing trips in Alaska since 1995, and one of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to keep it fun. Above all I enjoy laughing and making people laugh, so be prepared to have fun. I realize this is your trip, and will try to make it as enjoyable as legally possible. I try to exceed the expectations you have of your fishing trip. We have about 90% return clientele so, I think we must be doing something right. I’m one of the lucky few that have found their calling. I always dreamed of Alaska fishing and hunting when I was a kid and now I am living those dreams.”

Jim met his wife Becky in Ketchikan. Becky has spent most of her life in Ketchikan, and she has a degree from Western Washington University in Bellingham in Commercial Recreation.

Their daughters Taylor and Hannah were born and raised in Ketchikan, Alaska, and the entire Moody Family truly loves the beauty of the Southeast, Alaskan region and enjoys being able share it with visitors to the area.
